What I'm loving Wednesday

Wednesday seems to be the day of link ups and this is a new one for me. Last week I did Oh how Pinteresting, but honestly, I have not had the time to get on Pinterest in several days (so not like me)! I hope to do both link ups next week. Anyways, tonight I'm linking up with Jamie with This Kind of Love for what I'm loving Wednesday!

I am loving the awesome news I got tonight, but I can't really share it yet. I know right? Why even say anything, but I had to. ;)

I am LOVING that my classes got cancelled for tomorrow so that means I AM ON SPRING BREAK until the 13th! But it's going to be a busy week next week.

I am loving that there is an art and craft fair this weekend close to town that my mom and I are going to go to!

I am loving that Friday is payday! Thank goodness.

I am loving that I got a lot of work done today in class.

I am loving (and hating) that I am considering declaring yet another art major. I think I'm getting talked into.

I am loving the next piece I am making for metal-smithing class. It is this huge necklace that will pretty much take up the entire chest. Something a little like this, if you can read it.. and NOT this bright of colors, more pales- all I had were highlighters. :p
I am loving the pictures that my friend took of me this weekend for a project. Although in this one I look terrified and I don't think it even looks like me haha. I'll post more when she gets done editing them. ;)
Happy Wednesday everyone. Only a few more days until the weekend! :)

Top Five Tuesday: Vacations

It's Tuesday and I haven't blogged in 4 days. It's been a busy weekend. But what a better way to come back to my blogging world than to gush over vacations! I was just talking to my bff last night about how I belong on the beach and would rather live there than anywhere else in the world.

Today I'm linking up with Rachel from Just Peachy for our top 5 favorite vacations! Just to worn you, this post contains a lot of images. A LOT.

1. Caribbean and Netherlands cruise last spring break. We visited St. Maarten, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, St. Barts, Virgin Gorda. This trip was incredible. My mom actually WON the trip from work, so our airfare, cruise, food, everything (except shopping) was included! I am so extremely blessed that she asked me to go with her! It was a trip of a lifetime and time I will never forget!
The Island of St. Maarten from Sky View
This is our boat.
The star fish we found on the beach of Virgin Gorda

The Soggy Dollar bar in Jost Van Dyke

Zip lining in Tortola

The Virgin Gorda Baths

At Cheeseburger in paradise in St. Barts. The place I ate a cheeseburger for the first time in 2 years. It was the most amazing thing ever.
Sunset in the middle of the ocean.
2. Hawaii!! In high school my mom and I took a trip to Hawaii! It was a blast! It went by too quickly but it was so much fun. We went to an authentic luau, swan with the dolphins, got henna tattoos, and lived it up. (The date isn't right on these pictures btw)
A mand that was involved in Pearl harbor
Pearl Harbor
This is the only picture I could find of us swimming with the dolphins.

This is where my love of photography really took flight

3. Spring Break: PCB Sophomore year. This trip was so freaking crazy and awesome. Emma and I somehow talked my dad into taking us and also chaperoning 5 other girls at sometimes for a week. Our high school baseball team went down there every year for a tournament and we tagged along.

The gag before 'going out'

Yes that says 'Paige & Emma BFF'

4. Spring Break:PCB junior year. Yes we went 2 years in a row. This year it was just my dad and friend Kdlee. A good friend of mine since the 3rd grade moved to Georgia that year and him and his friends were going down to PCB for their spring break the weekend we were leaving, so we caught up with them the last few days of our trip. Kdlee and I got SO burnt the first day there it was horrible. We were so stupid and the first day we laid out for 6 hours STRAIGHT! Who does that? Especially the first day and we were pale! I mean the inside of our ears, our armpits, belly buttons- everything. We couldn't sleep, shower, or move.
We were reallllly cool.

We thought we were cool.

We had to wear hats (and pants that aren't photographed) because we were in so much pain.
5. NYC. My sophomore year of high school I was FBLA (future business leaders of America). We went on a 3-4 day trip to New York City. It was so much fun and jammed pack with stuff to do. The night we arrived there we went straight from the airport to Broadway and saw Legally Blonde- it was awesome! We visited the Statue of Liberty, ground zero, Time Square, and so much more. We even did a little shopping and got great purses and jewelry. ;) It was a trip I'll never forget. Ever since then, I have been dying to go back.
In the airport.

After we visited the MTV store, as you can see.

A good ol teacher ready the news paper to us.

On the boat visiting the Statue of Liberty. Also, my new purse.

Some of the group.
Looking back at these pictures, I realize just how lucky and blessed I am to have seen so much of the world. There are so many more trips I didn't even mention; California, annual skiing trips, Florida over and over, mini trips to Ohio. I am truly blessed.
Thanks for reading all my gibber gabber and sticking with it. ;)

Rich Brookie Delight!

I also call this a diabetics dream. Some may say, what's a brookie? I love these, but simpler. Brookie = Brownie + Cookie!

You'll need:
A box of your favorite brownie mix (family size)
A box of Oreos (you'll need the whole ting)
Your favorite chocolate chip recipe
Wax paper
13" x 9" pan

How to:
  1. Preheat oven to 350`
  2. Line your pan with wax paper. Not a must but it helps.
  3. Grease pan/ paper
  4. Mix up your cookie dough and spread on bottom of pan
  5. Layer Oreos directly onto the cookie dough, touching side to side
  6. Mix together your brownie box and pour over Oreos
  7. Gently spread brownies evenly over layers
  8. Cook for 45-55 minutes

  • Add ice cream and chocolate syrup for extra deliciousness
  • The middle will be a gooey, so no worries if your knife doesn't come out completely clean. Just make sure the top and about a forth into the brownies is done!

Nieman Marcus Cookies!

These cookies are the most incredible cookies I've ever had! And believe me, I've had my fair share of cookies. I sometimes call these Derby Pie Cookies.

What you need:
2 cups butter
4 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
5 cups oatmeal
24 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
18 oz milk chocolate chunks
2 cups of brown sugar
1 tsp salt
4 eggs
2 vanilla
3 cups chopped pecans

How to:
  1. Preheat oven to 375`
  2. Measure oatmeal into blender and blend to a fine powder (to create a flour)
  3. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugars
  4. Add eggs and vanilla
  5. In a second bowl, mix together flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda
  6. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients a small amount at a time
  7. Add chocolate chips, chunks, and pecans
  8. On a greased cookie sheet, using an ice cream scoop, place scoop onto sheets, 2 inches apart
  9. Bake for 10 minutes
  10. Move to cookie sheet immediately

  • Receipe makes a TON of cookies- serously, like over 100.
  • It halfs well, not well in forths though.
  • If the make it, store in air tight container for up to two weeks.

High Five For Friday

Yay for today! I'm linking up with Lauren for From My Grey Desk for

This week has gone by so quick! Hopefully this weekend doesn't go by as fast.

1. Michael and I are BOTH off today! YAY! We have zero plans, which is nice. We will probably watch this weeks Office, Up All Night, and Modern Family. It's nice to spend some time together on our days off because during the week we are just going going going!

2. I cooked up a storm! I made cupcakes, cookies, a cake (well 2, view this post for those details), and several new things. A chicken spaghetti bake, a tater tot chicken crock pot, and spaghetti stuffed bread (that was a total disaster).
3. I booked a wedding in November. Not just any wedding. A great couple of Michael and I. Can't wait to shoot their bright colored, vineyard, partying wedding. We've got a while, but I'm excited!

4. I am doing a photo shoot with a great friend tomorrow! This time is a little different... we are doing pictures of EACH other. EH! I do not well in front of the camera, my job is behind.

5. I am preparing for Spring Break which is week after next. No big plans- hiking, eating, a day trip to TN for a jewelry show! AND getting ready to apply for BFA (bachelor of fine arts). My portfolio is due the week we get back and I am so not ready. The application is due this week and that alone is difficult enough... writing a letter, looking up GPAs and grades. AHH! Hopefully it'll all be worth it!

The quiet things that no one ever knows.

This post will probably be to the interest of no one, but they are things that have happened to me the last couple of days that I find HAlarious or what not and feel the need to share.
(Yes the title of this post is a Brand New song if you care.)
Last night as I called my mom I heard my niece in the background (my sister and her family are currently staying with my mom). She was getting ready to get her nails painted by Nana. I asked her what colors she had to choose from, she said 'Um. Green- well blueish green (there's my artist), sparkly white, and pur- purple. Yeah that's purple not pink.' I told her I thought she should go with white or the green. She said, 'Yeah, I agree, although I am really loving purple more these days.' These days? You're 5. What are these days for you? Playing on the playground and coloring? So I asked her. She said in school she painted a picture of something she couldn't remember and got a book at the library today at school. When I asked her what book she got she said it was a scary book. She gets scared pretty easily so this surprised me. Then she continued.. A book about a scary squirrel. Yes you heard me correctly. She can't wait till it's her day at school for the teacher to read her book. I'm curious about what this book is really about. She has a wild imagination. I miss her. She is literally one of the funniest people I have ever met- at any age. Here's a picture of her outside playing out in the rain during out last photo shoot!
Michael's funny:
So he loves COD (call of duty). Loves! Well most days when games aren't going bad. We were talking about that fact that we both have tomorrow off (YAY!) and it brought up last weekend. Let me fill you in. He had Saturday and Sunday off last weekend, which never ever happens, and that's when I started blogging. So I was up all night creating this humble abode while he gamed. I don't ever care that he plays, or plays late. What would I care? Friday night when I was over he played until 5:30AM, after working all day. When I asked him at 5 if he was going to go to sleep he just looked at me and asked why and I replied with, because it's 5:00 in the morning. Well tonight we revisiting this experience he said, 'What I should have said is, it's 5 o'clock in morning.' You know, like the song? He sang that to me in the convo. Oh how I died laughing. It's honestly the little things that make me happy and laugh.
Midnight snack:
Some people call it a midnight snack, some call it a bedtime snack, and I call it both. When I get home from work it's after 11pm and I am hungry! I try to eat before or during work but that doesn't always happen. When I get done working I want some food. I don't think there is a night that I go to bed without eating something a little before. It use to be a bowl of cereal, but lately it's gotten worse. Cereal is a perfect snack before bed. It fills me up enough and doesn't make me feel so gross after eating like most food (I have serious acid reflex and food issues we can maybe revisit later). Lately it's like see if Michael would be interested in sharing a pizza (which is a no brainer), make a grilled cheese, eat a cupcake or cookie, fix some eggs and toast. Seriously Paige? They say don't eat anything after 7 or 8pm- well that's impossible for me. But they say that just cause normally people at night don't have the ability to work off some of those calories. Well these snack habit has got to change! Starting tomorrow, considering tonight I've already had 2 waffles and a cookie. I seriously have gained like 5lbs in a the last few months. 5lbs may not sound like a lot but it shows on A.women and! Watch out fridge, there are about to be some changes!
THAT'S all for now. Can't wait to link up tomorrow!

It's OK Thursday!

I'm linking up for It's OK Thursdays today! In my past I've ironically had dreadful Thursdays but not anymore, because;
It's OK that most morning when I wake up the first thing I think about is what am I going to eat!
It's OK that Michael and I aren't going to go anywhere for spring break like I really, really, really, wanted to.. but that doesn't mean I'm dropping it.
It's OK that I love more many shows that I have time for (as I sit here and catch up on Whitney and New Girl).
It's OK to think about my future as if were a movie... Stairing Zooey Deschanel or Ashley Judd with Josh Hartnet, in a 1950's country home, with a lab puppy and ok, I'm done.
It's OK that I wish parts of my body were bigger and some parts were smaller (Whitney just reminded me).
It's OK that I love painting my nails, and the one day that they stay perfect.
It's OK that today is my Friday- YAY!
It's OK that I have 4 followers. I'm excited to have those 4. :)
It's OK that I think of Grey's Anatomy as if they are real people that I talk to once a week, and that I feel bad for Owen and Christina right now because of the tough time in the marriage.
What's OK with you?!

Ash Wednesday as a Non-Chatholic

Last night after work, Michael and I got to talking about our day and I mentioned tomororow (today) is Ash Wednesday. He laughed and said, 'we aren't catholic.' We are Christian/ Baptists, and aren't the every- Sunday- to- church- we- go, pray before every meal or going to sleep, nightly or weekly Bible study, and the best Christian living people. We have similar belifs, morals, and values. We respect God and each other. My spiritaul relationship with God is honestly a little confusing to me, and has been for several years. Not my belifs, just how I see them being completed. I know that the Bible says to attend and be active in the church, but I don't believe that. Yes, when I go to church, I usually feel amazing when I leave. I would like to go more often, but don't feel guilty when I don't go- is that me or the devil?
Anyways, back to my point. I was reading to Michael why Catholics give up something for 40 days (because God gave us his life for us) and why that usually add something for 40 days (because God carried the cross for us). This I understand. This seems like such a little thing we can do (for 40 days) to repay Him for his sacrafices. To Michael, and my mom (because I called and asked her if she thought it would be dumb to do lent), it's dumb to partisapate in lent when it's not our religion, but I am anyways. I am trying. I think it's healthy for me to do this.
So for the next 40 days:

>NO MORE UNNESSARY SPENDING! I know... really, Paige? YES, really. Of course I'll buy groceries and things I need, but I mean pointless crap. I don't have a lot of money to begin with, so it's not like I go to the mall and spend hundereds of dollars on clothes and shoes that I don't need. I spend $20 at the dollar store or $15 at the enterance of Target on the dollar items for NO reason. Well there are reason; 'I may need this one day' 'I know someone who needs this' and usually it's 'I could use this in my next project' I have like 15 projects in progress right now, it's ridiculous. This is going to be really hard because spring break is in a couple weeks and I'm planning on going to an art and craft show, plus a jewelry show, and hopefully a mini-vacation with my love.

>DAILY PRAYERS! During lent you add something to your daily ritual as well. I don't pray nearly enough. When something great or horrible happens I go to Him, but what about the times in between? So I am setting a goal to pray daily, and more than just one time a day. Hopefully this will last more than just the 40 days "required."
Do you all have any goals for lent, Catholic or not? I'd love to hear them.
